Dreaming of a White Christmas - well white and terracotta!!

As I sit writing this I am trying to ignore the banging and crashing coming from my decimated kitchen which is in the process of a re-fit. I know it will be lovely when it is finished but living in one room downstairs which is covered in plaster dust with a mad labradoodle, also covered in plaster dust, is a touch trying at times.

Exciting New Homeware and Gifts

We are so excited to have become stockists for the beautiful products from Nkuku. They are a wonderful ethical company and here is their story.

The idea of Nkuku came from a year out from working life, travelling mainly through Africa and India. We wanted to find away to promote and develop the traditional skills of the artisans we met along the way

10 more of the best from Beacon Hill Boston

As promised here is ten more of the best from Beacon Hill Boston.

I think Halloween may be a little crazy in Boston. As we left the city to come home they were queuing out of the party store and down the block, with security guarding the doors!

We have experienced Halloween in Vermont before, which was good fun, quite spectacular, and was all wrapped up by 8pm with the state police joining in the festivities as well.

Rattlesnake Mountain New Hampshire

Up with the lark this morning for a hike up Rattlesnake Mountain in New Hampshire, I'll let the photographs do the talking. Well worth the hike I'm sure you will agree, and beautifully warm at the summit if not a tad freezing on the walk down and up.

Mill Falls New Hampshire

We are now in Mill Falls Meredith New Hampshire after leaving beautiful Stowe in Vermont, the fall colour had started to fade inVermont, but we were lucky enough to see it at its best on this visit, it is truly jaw dropping. To add to this we also had snow which is one of our most favourite things.

Decorating for Halloween

With the children breaking up for half term next week we thought we would give you some ideas for Halloween decorating from the capital of Halloween, New England. As you all know Karen is currently there and will no doubt have lots more photographs but here are some from her last trip there.

As Personal and Individual As You Would Like.

During the design and construction of our beautiful memory quilts we are asked to incorporate many items that hold special memories for our clients. These may be badges or dogs or special characters that will bring a smile and hold a memory. They are all so important and we always try to incorporate them whenever we can.

Two Creek Hill Stowe Vermont

We have been fortunate enough to stay in Stowe Vermont New England USA four times, staying at the Stoweflake Inn and the Green Mountain Inn. This time we wanted to stay in a home to see what it felt like to actually live in the area, and cook our own food some of the time. We were lucky enough to find Two Creek Hill to rent for the week, the owner David Brownstein was incredibly helpful from our first contact with him, even showing us other properties that were smaller and lower in price than his own, in his words 'he just wanted us to stay in Vermont and have an amazing time'.

New England so far

Thought I would just share with you what we have seen in New England so far, the weather has been unseasonably warm for the time of year with plenty of sun and a few hours of torrential rain. The last few days have flown past as we get used to the time difference and a different way of life. Boston has been lovely and now we are looking forward to  tomorrow and the more gentle side of Vermont.
