A stones throw away from The George in Rye is the Parish Church of St Mary, we visited it mainly because we knew you could climb the bell tower and would get some good views looking down on to the roof's of Rye.

Last week I was lying in bed putting in my Waitrose food shopping order (sad I know), Valentine's day was looming and I knew we were going to see Cara Dillon at the Ashcroft arts centre in the evening, so time would be tight for cooking dinner, what should I cook? I don't normally cook, my husband does, but I can. So as I was looking through the Waitrose magazine I noticed a recipe for Sea bream baked with fennel and potato, it looked easy so I decided to put the ingredients in the shopping cart, job done, shopping all sorted.
Happy Valentines Day

Choconchoc
A very lovely lady bought me a very thoughtful gift at Christmas, a very beautiful box of nine chocolates decorated with tea cups and cakes. They were to be eaten whilst having a break from making quilts for people, although I have to confess that the greatest pleasure I had from them was just looking at them, even though eating them felt pretty good too.

Whitchurch Silk Mill
Whitchurch Silk Mill in Hampshire is a 19th century water mill that weaves English silk fabrics using 19th century machinery. The Mill is the oldest working silk mill in Britain, still weaving in its original building. If you are a fan of BBC productions such as Cranford and Pride and Prejudice you will have seen some of their work being worn in the period costumes.

A few nice things from Brighton
A December day with no rushing.
We have taken time out of shopping, wrapping, card writing and rushing. These are December days as they should be.A 5 mile walk around the countryside of Alresford in Hampshire, a leisurely lunch and a small unrushed bit of window shopping in small privately owned well thought out shops, I don't count that as shopping!
